Our Mission

Firefighters helping remove
barriers to ensure children of Red
Deer have equal access to learn and play

About Us

The Red Deer Firefighters Children’s Charity is a non-profit organization based out of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Registration number # 889131777RR0001. Our foundation and volunteers come from the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 1190’s membership of firefighter/paramedics, dispatchers, and fire prevention officers.

Through hosting our own fundraisers, to helping other non-profits that directly impact our community, we work to fill in the gaps that prevent children from having equal access to learn and play.

Our History

Over the years our charity has evolved, but have always maintained a desire to help those in our community. Our charitable status began in 1982, formerly known as the Red Deer Firefighters Community Fund. We could be found throughout the community organizing and helping with various fundraisers, such as our annual Gala events, and Christmas tree pick-ups.

In 2006 we changed our focus to helping children of Red Deer have equal opportunities and better access to the fundamental elements of childhood. Our efforts expand from broad donations, such as helping fund the Red Deer Reading Pals program, to individual child needs; which includes helping purchase specialized medical equipment or items of everyday life.
